FEATURES OF THE ACTION AND IMPORTANCE OF HERBAL REMEDIES

Ukrainian society and the medical community have faced a number of changes related to the reform of the health care system. The use of the principles of evidence-based medicine in everyday medical practice has become an urgent problem. Since 2017, there has been a controversy on social networks and the media regarding the use of herbal medicine in official clinical practice. Some experts motivate their position by the fact that evidence-based medicine does not recommend the use of drugs with unproven effectiveness, which include the vast majority of herbal remedies of traditional use. Of course, such loud statements do not go unanswered by opponents from specialists in the pharmaceutical and medical communities. Despite the explanations of state experts, many points in this controversy remain not fully understood and require the participation of a wide range of specialists in the discussion.
